BRIEF
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a common gastrointestinal disorder that affects 1 out of 10 people in the United States each year. With symptoms like cramping, diarrhea, gas and bloating, it's no surprise that living with IBS can have a significant effect on a person's quality of life. Diet is one way people manage the symptoms of IBS. A common treatment approach is to avoid the foods that trigger symptoms. A new diet for IBS, developed in Australia, is showing promise in managing IBS symptoms. It's called the low FODMAP diet. High-FODMAP foods would typically be considered as healthy choices. For those who can tolerate them, high FODMAP fruits, vegetables, milk products, legumes, and whole grains may be wonderful foods! But people with IBS often have to limit their portions of these foods or suffer the consequences. Luckily there are many nutritious low-FODMAP foods to choose from.
The FODMAPPA app is a personal food diary for those trying to manage their IBS symptoms with the FODMAP diet. The users can also check new foods to see their FODMAP levels, share their diary with health care professionals, and check on the research trial enrollment options. There also will be store coupons for low-FODMAP foods. The app will be available for Android and iOS. The logo will be used as the app icon, and for our website and printed materials like business cards and brochures. Thus, we want our logo to scale well, to have negative space, and modern typography.
