This study is a continuation of my work in progress paper in 2019.

We're conducting a study that examines different types of violence BIPOC transgender women and non-binary people experience and manage safety, and technology’s role/potential in supporting TBIPOC’s safety. We'll be conducting interviews to understand how participants practice safety and what role technology played, if any, in these experiences, with a focus on physical safety concerns. 

 

We designed U-Signal, wearable technology and accompanying smartphone application prototype to increase physical safety and decrease safety concerns, reduce violence, and help build community. The participants will be testing the current interactive digital prototype during the interview, and their feedback will influence the design.
